June 5, 2023 | by Chris Boyd
England Boxing is pleased to launch the brand-new Code of Conduct, which exists to protect all involved in our sport and outline the sporting, moral and ethical principles that are expected.
The new Code has been designed in collaboration with England Boxing stakeholders and was ratified by the Compliance, Legal and HR sub-committee as well as the England Boxing board before launch.
The document sets out the philosophy and expected levels of behaviour for everyone involved in the sport of boxing and applies to everyone from community club to Olympic level.
The importance of the new Code of Conduct cannot be overstated and England Boxing encourages all affiliated clubs to have a copy on display or available in their gyms.
Danny Williams, Head of Compliance at England Boxing, spearheaded the development of the new Code of Conduct and is looking forward to seeing the benefits of the project.
“The new Code of Conduct has been designed in collaboration with many stakeholders to give the whole membership clear guidance and ensure that we are keeping our sport safe for all that are involved.
“It is our expectation that the new Code of Conduct will help everyone understand their individual roles in facilitating England Boxing activities.
“We look forward to seeing the benefits of this extensive project moving forward into the new season and beyond.”
Head of Operations and Transformation, Avoen Perryman, added, “I am very pleased to see the launch of the Code of Conduct for the benefit and support of all our members.
“Reflecting and documenting the core values of discipline and respect that we hold dear in the sport of amateur boxing, to the benefit of our boxers, clubs and volunteers, is something that I am very proud to see and look forward to seeing the positive impact of for many years to come.”
England Boxing CEO, Jerome Pels, underlined the importance of the new Code to the future of amateur boxing.
“I am very happy with the launch of the new Code of Conduct.
“Our reputation and success as a sport will be defined by the commitment and adherence to the core values and principles expressed in this Code.
“It is up to us all to not only comply with the Code and Rules that govern our sport, but also to set standards of ethical conduct that will generate respect and inspire the boxing community.”
