Team England topped the medal table with 21 golds at the GB Junior and Youth Three Nations 2023 in Motherwell, Scotland.

An impressive figure of 29 Three Lions boxers competed for a gold medal in yesterday’s (Sunday, 4th June) Finals Day.

Just eight were unsuccessful in their attempt, meaning Team England finished the tournament with 21 golds, eight silvers and six bronze medals.

John Stubbs, lead coach for Team England at this tournament, was delighted with the performance of both squads.

“I’m really happy with the whole team of boxers and everyone behaved impeccably and performed fantastically.

“The medal table reflects the quality of the Junior group, which included many Team England debutantes and some returning faces and a Youth team that had a wealth of experience with one or two boxers starting out on their international journey.”

The England coaching team had some debutantes of their own and Stubbs acknowledged their contribution to the team.

“Big thank you to the coaches, some of which were on their first competitive England duty, they all offered great support to the team.

“Lastly, I’d like to thank Boxing Scotland for hosting a well-run competition.”

The England coaching team consisted of Laura Sargeant, Naadrah Hafeez, Alan Brown, Wayne McCartney, Ross Wilkinson and Gavin Rickelton. The Youth team were led by Phil Knight with John Stubbs as tournament lead. Mick Maguire was England’s team manager.

Officials from England were Billy MacDonald, Chris Smith, Paul Allen, Nigel Helliwell and Phil Hattan.
