Max Barragan Segre has been appointed as the England Boxing’s new Club Support Officer for the Southern Counties region.

He takes over the position from Avoen Perryman, who recently stepped up to become Club and Community Manager.

Growing up in London, Max started boxing at St Pancras ABC as a youngster and has been continually involved with the sport ever since.

He now lives in the Southern Counties area, in Chichester, having studied Sport and Exercise Science at the city’s university, and is also a qualified personal trainer and BOX instructor.

“I broke my leg playing football when I was about 12 years old and realised I needed to do something different and so got down to my local boxing club,” he said.

“Within the first week I absolutely fell in love with it, and I started coaching a year later, so I’ve been in boxing for the last 10 years now.

“What drew me to this role is seeing the positive impact that boxing can have on people’s lives, which I have seen first hand.

“For me, I was someone who struggled growing up, but having the environment of a boxing club really helped me… and a club really is like a family.

“I can’t wait to get out into the boxing clubs in my area and help push the sport out to more local people.”
