Welcome to England Boxing’s home page for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games – the biggest multi-sports event to be held in the England since the London 2012 Olympics.
The Games take place between Thursday 28th July and Monday 8th August, while the boxing tournament will take place at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) between Friday 29th July and Sunday 7th August, with a rest day and no boxing on Friday 5th August.

Background to Birmingham
Birmingham was announced as host for the 2022 edition of the Commonwealth Games on 21st December 2017, marking England’s third time hosting the Commonwealth Games after London 1934 and Manchester 2002, and the seventh time the Games has come to the United Kingdom, with Cardiff hosting in 1958, Edinburgh in 1970 and 1986, and Glasgow in 2014.
During the 16th official Queen’s Baton Relay, the Baton will be carried across the Commonwealth by nominated individuals, visiting all 72 nations and territories of the Commonwealth, covering 140,000 kilometres. The Baton Relay began on 7 October 2021 and it’s 294-day journey will conclude at the Opening Ceremony of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games on 28th July 2022.
Boxing-wise, Team England is looking to uphold a proud boxing history at the Commonwealth Games with some of the sport’s biggest names, such as Nicola Adams and Joe Joyce, having won gold for their country.
England top the all-time medal table in boxing with an impressive 128 medals, including 60 golds.
