Women’s Officials Development Programme Spotlight: Selena Fox

East Midlands-based Selena Fox, currently a grade C judge and timekeeper, hopes to develop her skills and officiate at the highest level.
How did you first get involved with boxing and become an official?
Originally, I joined my local amateur boxing club with the intention of competing. Eventually, though, I started helping the coaches and I went on to gain my England Boxing Level One and Two coaching qualifications.
Over the following years, I supported different clubs in my area as part of their coaching team. I then moved on to officiating where I can now utilise my experience to apply the judging criteria at a high standard.
What do you hope to get from the WODP that can improve you as an official?
I hope to gain more experience and exposure and continue to develop my knowledge by learning from other officials and mentors.
What do you enjoy the most in your officiating role?
I enjoy being part of a diverse and talented officiating team that puts the boxers first.
Who are your biggest boxing inspirations?
It has to be the boxers. The courage, determination and resilience they demonstrate throughout their bouts is truly inspirational.
What is your aspiration in boxing?
To continue progressing to a higher level, eventually being able to officiate at national and international events.
