The latest England Boxing Punch Like A Girl female-only coaching course has been staged in the Southern Counties.
It concluded last weekend at Southampton’s Poseidon ABC, with 15 attendees there representing 12 different clubs from across the South East.
All passed the England Boxing Level 1 course and are now due to attend their safeguarding and first aid course, all funded through England Boxing, Energise Me and Kent Sport Partnership.
Upon completion, these coaches will be delivering an outreach project for their clubs to a group of females from a part of their local community, including a women’s refuge centre, an all-girls school and a group of female young offenders.
The course was deliver by England Talent coach and coach educator Adam Haniver.
The successful pilot of the Punch Like A Girl programme took place in Yorkshire last summer and courses are now being rolled out across other England Boxing regions.
They frequently see participants strike up relationships they have continued after returning to their own clubs, setting up WhatsApp groups to share ideas and good practice, as well as offer each other support.
