The first East Midlands Squad training session of the season took place on 24th August at the City of Leicester Lightning, with special guest Olympian Chantelle Reid in attendance.
Former Kode Red athlete, Reid hosted a Q&A session, sharing insights into her career, the influence regional training had on her fighting style, and her future ambitions.
Looking ahead, it’s set to be a packed season for the East Midlands squad, with five matchups already scheduled for the 2024-2025 season.
The event saw a strong turnout from the region’s female boxers, while coaches collaborated effectively throughout the day. World Boxing 3-star official and England Boxing’s 2024 Official of the Year, Paul Rosendale, lent his expertise by refereeing the sparring sessions and joining the Q&A portion of the day afterwards.
Dean Sugden, Regional Coach, expressed his pride in the team’s development over the past year: “I’m absolutely delighted with the progress the squads have made since I took over. The boxers got in some top-quality sparring, and I’ve seen tremendous growth. Our region is constantly improving, and I want to thank all the club coaches for their continued support.”
