The eight officials who will form the first cohort on the new England Boxing Women’s Officials Development Programme (WODP) have now been confirmed.

The group have sprung into action quickly, having already taken part in an introductory online meeting on 31st October that was attended by the participants and mentors.

Detailed below are the participants – including their current role/grade, region and area they wish to develop further in – as well as their respective mentor.

“I felt all the participants at the initial meeting were engaged, keen to learn from the mentors and one another and passionate about championing females in the officiating capacity, which was really great to see,” said programme organiser Amy Pu.

“Their task for November is to arrange a one-to-one meeting with their mentor and complete an Individual Development Plan, so they can set their goals and keep track of their own progress.”

England Boxing has launched a 12-month Women’s Officials Development Programme to support 10 officials in their development and progression within their respective regions.

Following on from the Women’s Coach Development Programme

The WODP was launched in September and follows the success of the Women’s Coach Development Programme (WCDP), which is now into its second year.

Group and one-to-one sessions will be held either virtually or face-to-face throughout the year-long period.

Practical elements will be organised and delivered in partnerships with England Boxing regional associations, in addition to invitations to shadow and/or participate in England Boxing Women’s Winter Box Cup in December.

There will be an individual review on completion to explore further areas for each official to take ownership and continue their development beyond the programme.
