After an impressive opening ceremony, our three boxers were focused on the task at hand and have given Team England a great start with three wins from three on the opening day.

52kg Billy Adams v Giorgi Sajaia (Georgia) – won 4:1

In an all southpaw clash, Billy’s straight left hands found the mark time and time again. Combined with neat footwork Billy was good value for his points win.

52kg Courtney Scott v Antonia Filippa Giannakopoulou (Greece) – won 5:0

Courtney weathered a brief opening minute storm of action from the Greek puncher to soon settle into her rhythm and these championships.  Sharp shots from the English southpaw saw her comfortably through to the next round.

57kg Sacha Hickey v Zeynab Rahimova (Azerbaijan) – won 5:0

Southpaw Sacha soon got into her stride in rounds two and three delivering accurate pot shots to good effect against a tough foe.  Good performance, good result!
