Elite coach Handyside to guest at Women in Boxing Conference

A second guest speaker has been added to the agenda at England Boxing’s inaugural Women in Boxing Conference on Saturday 18th December.

Joining headline speaker Natasha Jonas at the free event will be vastly experienced coach Emily Handyside.

Emily (pictured below) is currently UK Coaching’s Coach Programme and Pathways Manager for Female Leadership Programmes.

Her background in netball has seen her coach the University of Bath, Loughborough University, Leeds Rhinos, England Under 21s and the Swiss national team.

She has also lectured at Oxford Brookes University and been the Head Coach at England Netball’s National Training Centre.

Emily is passionate about promoting women and girls’ sport, adding their insight and expertise to that of world professional title contender and former Olympic boxer Jonas.

The Women in Boxing Conference, which will provide a fantastic opportunity for more than 200 women and girls in the sport – boxers, club members, coaches, officials and other volunteers – to come together, share ideas and learnings and be inspired to engage with a wider base of female participants.

Using the theme of ‘breaking down barriers’, the event is part of England Boxing’s ongoing commitment to address the gender imbalance in the sport and open up more opportunities for female participation at all levels.

It will be the first as part of an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion series of that will be staged over the next 12 months, with similar events planned around supporting and promoting participants from ethnically diverse communities and disability boxing.

The venue for the conference is the Loughborough’s Holywell Park Conference Centre, which is located at Loughborough University Science and Enterprise Park (LE11 3GR).

It will start with a welcome and networking session from 11am and will finish at 4.30pm, with lunch at 1.30pm.

In addition to the keynote speakers, there will also be breakout sessions and an opportunity to network and form local communities of practice.
