Tenterden’s 1,000 burpees challenge for breast cancer charity

Tenterden club coach Tom Roach and boxer Sam Beaney will this Saturday (18th December) take on the epic challenge of completing 1,000 flat burpees to raise funds for the charity Rage IV.

Rage IV is a charity close to the hearts of those at the Southern Counties club as it was recently set up by club member Danielle Hambridge, who was diagnosed with stage IV incurable breast cancer at the age of 29.

Whilst Danielle was going through treatment, she tried to maintain a good level of fitness by continuing to exercise at the club, even on the days where she had a large dose of chemotherapy.

She was adamant that maintaining a healthy lifestyle kept her mind and body strong and remarkably she has remained in remission for the past two years.

Danielle decided that it would be a great idea to promote healthy, active living during cancer treatment by encouraging other patients to do the same.

However, with the cost of gym memberships and fitness clubs being so high and considering that a lot of patients have to take reduced hours at work or leave employment altogether to focus on their health, Rage IV seeks to allow cancer patients to focus on their mental and physical wellbeing without worrying about the cost.

Tom and Sam are raising funds for the charity through Just Giving and would appreciate any donations from the wider boxing community towards this great cause.
