The Women’s Officials Development Programme is back with a bang, as the 2025 cohort were invited to shadow Grade A Major Panel judges at the England Boxing National Youth Championships in Rotherham this past weekend.

The programme has been redeveloped this year to contain as many practical elements as possible. To enhance their development, all participants are invited to attend the England Boxing National Championships.

“I’m really excited about what we can do this year to help these officials on their journey.

“You can’t get a better learning environment than the National Championships and being surrounded by the top referees and judges in the country.

“The networking opportunities and the ability to receive hands-on guidance and knowledge will play a big role in the cohort’s development throughout the year”, said England Boxing’s Interim Workforce Development Manager, Laura Sargeant.

“We have Geoff Cannell leading the cohort this year and he did a fantastic job with the ladies all weekend.

“Geoff evaluated the scores of each individual and provided them with critical feedback. Above all else, though, all who took part felt and appreciated his support and guidance.

“They had a superb time and felt they had learned so much.”
