The team attending next month’s U19 World Championships can now be revealed following a rigorous selection training camp which took place in Tamworth Boxing Club from 30th-31st August.

Eleven youth boxers will be heading to Pueblo, Colorado for the occasion and competing between 25th October and 5th November.

The line-up includes a range of seasoned youth athletes who have already made quite the impression and will be supported by coaching team: Amanda Coulson, Mick Maguire, Phil Knight and Dave Johnston with the team manager yet to be appointed.

Speaking on his selection, youngster John Tom Vary said: “I’m bringing the best version of myself to the World Championships, I’m over the moon that I’ve been selected to represent my country once again and I’m looking forward to wearing the lions vest again with pride!

Selection camp was hard, as it should be for a spot at such a big tournament, two days is a much better set up and allowed me to get into my groove and showcase my skills to the coaches there.”
