England Performance are delighted to announce a squad of six boxers selected to compete at the World Boxing Futures Cup in Bangkok, Thailand, this March.

The selected boxers arrive in strong international form, with each athlete having medalled at the recent U17 European Championships in Germany – collectively securing two gold, one silver and two bronze medals.

Selections have been made in line with Youth Olympic Games (YOG) weight categories, with the Futures Cup representing the only qualification opportunity for the 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, Senegal, later this year.

The tournament will provide a valuable platform for England’s emerging talent to gain further international experience on the world stage.

National Coaches Mick Maguire and Louise Vidor will lead the squad in Bangkok, having worked closely with the group since the European Championships in Slovenia in 2023.

Together, the coaching team and selected boxers have achieved eight medals across three European Championships, five gold and three bronze, demonstrating the strength and consistency of the England Performance pathway.

U17 Boxer’s Boxer of the Year for 2025 Sonny Hollingsworth (Billingham) is delighted to represent his country on the world stage: “It is a true honour to be selected for a tournament of this size.

“It’s always an immensely proud moment to be given the opportunity to represent my country and wear the England vest with pride.”

National Coach Mick Maguire highlighted the opportunities that will be afforded to the selected boxers: “The Futures Cup is a wonderful opportunity for the boxers taking part.

“With attendance at the tournament being a requisite towards eligibility at the 2026 Youth Olympics, it is attracting teams from all over the World and promises to present lots of new challenges for our team.

“We look forward to the competition and to the experiences and tests that it will certainly provide.”
