On Sunday, June 2nd, 2024, the latest instalment of the Women’s Coach Development Programme (WCDP) took place at the English Institute of Sport (EIS), focusing on enhancing padding skills through a session aptly named ‘Padding with Purpose.’
The workshop covered a variety of pad work techniques, including technical, tactical, conditioning, and southpaw pads. Participants utilised an array of padding tools such as noodles, paddles, and body protectors.
Rachel Bower led the session, which was well-received by all the coaches. Each attendee reported gaining valuable insights and skills from the workshop.
Women and Girls Officer, Laura Sargent said: “These workshops are a crucial part of their journey on the WCDP and we are blessed to have some fantastic mentors who know what it’s like to be pushed out of your comfort zone (after having been on the programme themselves).
I would like to thank them all, it’s so amazing to see the support they give to the coaches. This year we have the mentors developing themselves even further, by delivering on parts or the whole of the session.
We also have extra help with the coaches from the previous cohorts coming into support, this helps them continue their development and build up the brilliant network that we have through the programme.”
