The 2023 Junior European England Team began their preparations last Friday (16th June), ahead of next month’s EUBC Junior European Championships in Romania.

The squad of 20 undertook three days of runs, technique drills, and sparring at Tamworth Boxing Gym, which was the beginning of six weeks’ worth of preparation – aiming to ensure that all Team England boxers are at their peak performance levels when they depart for Romania.

The camp was delivered by England coaches, John Stubbs, Phil Knight, Alexandra Vass, Dave Johnstone, and Mick Maguire.

Mick Maguire, England Performance National Coach said, “The boxers and coaching staff have set the bar high with this first week of activity and every single member of the 20-strong boxing team has responded to the challenges they have been set.

“I am certain that they will continue to raise that bar over the coming weeks.

“I would also like to express our thanks to Alan and Clare Keast and the whole team at Tamworth Boxing Gym for hosting Team England at their outstanding facility.

“Lastly, our gratitude goes out to the fantastic support from all the club coaches that gave up their weekend to bring in boxers to spar with the team, and of course to the coaches and parents that transported the England boxers themselves to and from the camp.”
