England Boxing supporting Stacey Copeland for Sportswomen of the Year Award
October 25, 2018 | by Matt Halfpenny
England Boxing are proud to be supporting Stacey Copeland for this years Grassroots Award at the Sportswoman of the Year awards ceremony held in London on the evening of Thursday 1st November.
The Awards, now in their 31st year, celebrate the outstanding contribution to sport made by elite performers, coaches, administrators, community volunteers and inspirational women. The Grassroots Award is for individuals who have actively engaged with different groups within their community through sport.
Former National Champion and EUBC Silver medallist, Stacey Copeland, founded her ‘Pave the Way’ project last year, which aims to not only inspire women and girls through sport, but also promote women who work in sport who are not athletes, and therefore receive little recognition for their efforts.
Stacey Copeland recently told The Sunday Times: “There will be loads of girls who love sport, but they might not be good enough to earn a living from it, so I wanted them to know that, with all the skills they’ve got and their passion, these are the jobs they could do.”
Stacey is up against some tough opposition for the Grassroots Award, so you can play your part by voting for Stacey through the link: sportswomenoftheyear.co.uk/awards
Voting through the Sportswoman of the Year website will also give you an opportunity to win a 14-day luxury Caribbean cruise to Miami with Cruise1st.
