England Boxing’s board has issued a guidance document that outlines its considerations as the Coronavirus lockdown is expected to ease over the next few weeks.

Entitled Off the Ropes: Guidance Towards a Full Return to Amateur Boxing, it details the four phases that the organisation hopes to work through – once deemed safe to do so by the UK government and Public Health England – to re-open gyms and return to full contact boxing and competition.

This document is intended to help clubs to start to think about the process to plan the reopening, provided that at all times, activities are reintroduced in a cautious and methodical manner and based on sound advice.

The safety and protection of recreational and competitive participants, coaches, officials, volunteers and staff, together with the health of the wider public communities from which the participants originate from, remains England Boxing’s number one priority.

The document will be updated as required and when further advice and information from the UK government and Public Health England, as well as other sources offering support, becomes available.

In the meantime, the basic hygiene and washing of hands, avoiding touch mouth, nose  and eyes staying socially distant outside of you immediate household remains very important.

England Boxing is also looking to provide more information on mental health support in the coming days and weeks.
