Dream day for England’s boys at Euros

A magnificent seven victories powered England boys to a perfect fourth day at the EUBC European Schools Championships 2019 in Georgia, Tblisi.
As a result, the septet (pictured) are now all guaranteed at least a bronze medal, but will box for a place in their respective finals at the semi-final stages on Friday.
City of Leicester’s Denaeo George started the run of unstinting success for the Three Lions as he secured a unanimous 5-0 points victory at 38.5kg over Armandas Kregzde of Lithuania.
Next to take to the ring was Burton Park’s Ellis Panter and he kept his cool to defeat Azerbaijan boxer Hatamov Sanan at 50kg by a 4-1 split.
West Ham’s Anthony Connors was England’s representative at 59kg and he did not disappoint, with a slick win over Serbia’s Milan Stanojevic.
The final bout of the afternoon session involving an England boxer saw Pinewood’s RJ Draper defeat Azerbaijan’s Ziya Hasanov at 65kg.
The evening session continued the wave of English excellence, with Thomas Varey, of Sharpstyle and boxing at 40kg, sweeping to a unanimous 5-0 victory over Armenian Armen Pilosyan.
Another Pinewood boxer, Joe Cooper, followed in clubmate Draper’s footsteps by claiming England’s sixth victory of the day, getting the better of Macedonia’s Serghei Cononov by a unanimous 5-0 margin.
And it was Newark’s 54kg boxer Sam Hardy who made it seven out of seven as he triumphed against Yehor Artomov of Ukraine, securing a 3-2 split success.
Team England – boys and girls are now guaranteed 14 medals from a 19-strong squad.
Tomorrow (Thursday) is a rest day.
