Coulson named IBA’s Outstanding Woman Coach

England Boxing’s Development Coach Amanda Coulson has been named as IBA’s Outstanding Woman Coach.

She was one of seven women recognised for her ongoing contribution to the sport and was presented her award at a gala dinner following the conclusion of the IBA Women’s World Boxing Championships in Istanbul.

Coulson led England to a record EUBC Youth European Championships haul of four gold medals in Sofia in April, which also saw the team claim a record-equalling seven medals in all.

She has also made a significant contribution to the development of women’s boxing in England by setting up key programmes such as Women’s Aspire and the Women’s Coach Development Programme.

In 2018, she was part of the Team GB coaching team at the Youth Olympics where the four-strong squad earned three gold medals and a bronze medal – a best ever in that event.

“I’m delighted to receive this award and recognition from the International Boxing Federation,” said Coulson. “It’s brilliant to see that IBA are acknowledging the outstanding women in each of the different roles in boxing.

“My accolade, however, would not have been possible without the support and guidance from so many people, who are too many to mention, but all truly invaluable.

“I would particularly like to thank the club where I began my career, Hartlepool Catholic Boxing Club, GB Boxing and of course England Boxing for giving me the platform to develop and progress in the sport I love.

“It is a great achievement for us as a nation for sure, showing that we are leading the way.”
