Coach Alli boosting Hornets’ female contingent

Female boxing has taken off at Hornets Boxing Academy, Ramsgate in a big way, thanks in large part to the dedication of coach Alli Wright.
After retiring from competing in 2018, the former teaching assistant contacted the club’s Head Coach Chris Daley to see if she could get involved.
She soon passed the England Boxing Level One coaching course and, last month (November) qualified as an England Boxing Level Two coach, meaning she can now lead sessions.
Wright (pictured above, in orange) has subsequently begun to coach both family and women-only sessions at Hornets, increasing club member numbers in the process.
She is set to be reimbursed the cost of her Level Two course by Kent County Council, who have set up a Project 500 Bursary.
The programme is helping to recruit 500 new female coaches across all sports, with the help of funding from Kent Sport.
In the future, Wright intends to advance her coaching development by attending courses on sports psychology and strength and conditioning.
England Boxing’s Club Support Officer for the South East, Avoen Perryman, said: “Alli is a great inspiration to young girls and boys alike at the club.
“It’s great that she’s still keen to develop and improve her coaching through further CPD as time goes on.”
