It’s been a busy start to the EUBC Women’s European Championships 2019 in Madrid, Spain for the team of England boxers.

Saturday’s opening day saw Demie-Jade Resztan get the Three Lions off to a flyer as she powered to a unanimous 5-0 success at 48kg over Serbia’s Sandra Maran.

There was also a victory for Paige Murney (pictured) at 60kg, who stopped her opponent, Spain’s Melissa Gonzalez Tudge in the second round.

However, there was disappointment in a third bout of the day as Kerry Davis was defeated 5-0 by Russian Anastasiia Shamonova of Russia at 75kg.

On day two, one English boxer was in action and that produced a clear victory for Sandy Ryan, who secured a unanimous 5-0 win over Alina Veber of Belarus.

But there was a double setback on yesterday’s day three as Paige Murney was edged out on a 3-2 split by number one seed at 60kg, Finland’s Mira Potkonen.

Tori-Ellis Willetts was then beaten at 51kg by Russia Saveleva following a 4-1 split decision.

Today’s day four (Tuesday) sees Resztan, Ryan and Karriss Artingstall are all in action.
