Bristol’s Downend Police Boxing Club is celebrating two awards in recognition of its success within the sporting community.

Head Coach Craig Turner has landed an Outstanding Services to Sport in recognition of 25 years’ service at the club.

And the club’s Moore brothers, Jude and Ethan, have been selected as Young Sports Personality of the Year.

Both awards came in the 2019 Bristol Post Sports Awards that were held at Ashton Gate, home of Bristol City Football Club.

Turner said: “It’s not a one-man effort and I’m stunned to win. It’s all about the kids.

Boxing is something I’ve done since I was a kid and was my salvation. Boxing appeals to at-risk kids.

“The two lads who have won awards – one is going on to serve in the army and the other has won a European medal boxing for his country. It’s amazing!

Both Moore brothers have also won England Boxing National Championships in 2019 – Ethan at Schools level and Jude in the Juniors.
