New Era Boxing Club Head Coach Mark Bebbington is appealing online to clubs to donate to their local foodbanks – and then nominate others affiliated to England Boxing to do the same.

It is hoped that the chain can help secure vital help for vulnerable people in need during the Coronavirus outbreak.

“During the coronavirus pandemic a lot of boxing clubs, along with the Maverick Stars Trust have been doing some fantastic work and I’ve been thinking of ways that more boxing clubs can help,” he said.

“Since there has been additional pressure placed on foodbanks across all areas, I think one way of helping is to donate some essential items to the foodbanks directly.

“I’ve shopped for the items needed and donated them to the nearest foodbank to our club. I’ve then nominated three others clubs who I have already contacted.

“In turn, they will then nominate more clubs and hopefully this will be a great way to help all foodbanks across the country, whilst creating some really positive publicity for the clubs involved.

“This is just our way of helping out anyway we can and hopefully more clubs can also do a little bit too.”

The three clubs initially nominated by New Era are the Boxing Fit Academy, South Cheshire and Holmes Chapel Boxing Club.
