17 boxers selected for Performance Programme’s pilot Senior squad

A total of 17 boxers have been named in the England Boxing Performance Programme’s pilot Senior level squad.
The 14 male and three female boxers have been selected based on their experience, achievements and successes both domestically and international.
The senior programme aims to further develop these Three Lions boxers in the adult age bracket, enabling them to continue working toward achieving their boxing aspirations.
The pilot squad will be convened from January to March 2023 before an official squad will be announced following the England Boxing National Amateur Championships 2023.
The programme will be lead by Lead National Coach Amanda Coulson and will feature two domestic training camps and one overseas that will also include some competitive bouts.
“England Boxing has not had a robust senior programme for a long time now, so it’s great for us to be able to put one in place and ensure that the Performance Pathway continues all the way through,” she said.
“The squad will provide boxers at senior level extra motivation and something to strive for, while also aiding the transition for those attempting to get on the GB Programme.
“Currently, boxers who are very experienced at Youth level may have little experience, especially internationally, at senior level before they go for GB assessments, but this programme should help address that.
“This first squad is a pilot squad, where we will map out how it is going to work in the future. It has been selected from those who made the latter stages of GB assessment but didn’t quite get on, were a National Amateur Championships (NACs) sole entry or were part of the squad for the Youth Worlds in November.
“The first full squad will be selected based on performances at the NACs 2023, which take place in April.”
