Fisher ABC is honouring the legacy of their late head coach, Steve Hiser, by continuing his efforts of bettering young people’s lives through boxing and supporting female participation in the sport.

Steve Hiser OBE BEM, who sadly passed away in May 2023, was a legendary figure of amateur boxing and had given over 50 years of service to Fisher ABC.

He was well known for advocating equality; ensuring that everyone is treated the same regardless of race, religion, background, and gender.

Hiser also had a particular passion for developing female participation in amateur boxing, something his club are looking to continue.

Fisher hosts the London female squad sessions and, as a club, supports the work of Women’s Aid who work hard to end violence against women and children.

Through amateur boxing, they want to empower women and teach young men how to be respectful of women.

Fisher ABC aims to show:

  • The sport of boxing is one of equality
  • Boxing has the opportunity to further empower women
  • Boxing is able to teach young men how to be respectable – and respect women
