Newly affiliated STMA Boxing Academy helps boxing boom in Reading

Recently affiliated Shaolin Tigers Martial Arts Boxing Academy (STMA) are looking forward to getting their boxers in the Championships circuit next season, with preparations already well underway.

STMA was founded in July 2022 by former World Champion kickboxer Daniel Eden and is now one of two England Boxing-affiliated gyms in the Reading area.

Eden wanted to provide a place for people in his childhood neighbourhood to be able to train and learn a mixed martial art, including boxing and invested a lot of time and money into modernising the facility.

The gym underwent developments including new flooring and equipment and the overall look of the gym was freshened. The club then went on to gain England Boxing affiliation in January of this year (2023) with head coach Tommy Johnson leading the boxing side of the club.

STMA are hopeful of attracting people from all walks of life and hopes to give opportunities to locals to give boxing a go, whether that be for recreational or competitive purposes.

STMA is open from 6am and delivers nine boxing classes per week, aimed at varying abilities and age groups.

The club has seen an increase in boxing sessions and are are looking forward to the 2023/2024 season after a long wait since first opening its doors.

STMA are proud to call on several boxers who have previously been carded with other clubs, while they have other boxers who are due to be carded in the near future.

The club is excited to make a good impression in its opening year and build a strong foundation for the future of STMA Boxing Academy.
