How did you first get involved with boxing and become an official?

I first tried boxing in my 20s and I instantly fell in love with the sport. I soon learned that I wasn’t the best, but this didn’t stop me from enjoying it. I did my Judges and Timekeeping course after picking up an injury and I haven’t looked back since.

What do you hope to get out of the WODP that can improve you as an official?

I hope to gain a better understanding and knowledge of the sport.

What do you enjoy the most in your officiating role(s)?

I enjoy watching the development of all boxers, both male and female, and how they transcend through the sport.

Who are your biggest boxing inspirations?

I have three. Watching Alanna Nihell in the Commonwealth Games made me want to get into the sport. Her hard work and dedication saw her walk away with a bronze medal. There’s also Stu Mann as he started me on this journey, his passion and love for boxing are contagious. Finally, there’s Phil Hatton who gave up his own time to develop me. He’s been there to support me and helped me grow as an official and taught me that every day is a school day!

What is your aspiration in boxing?

To go as far as I can in the sport, and to keep enjoying it!
