The England team selected for the EUBC Junior European Championships 2022 in Monza from 25th September to 5th October can now be announced.
A team of six girls and 10 boys – along with one female and one male reserve – has been chosen after two selection camps, the second of which was staged at Tamworth last weekend (6th and 7th August).
It is the first time the Three Lions has competed at the championships since 2019 because of Covid-19, when the team returned from Galati, Romania with five medals – two gold, one silver and two bronze.
“Because it has been a two-part selection process, it has really enabled us to get to know the boxers well,” said Lead National Coach Amanda Coulson.
“That’s not just their ability to perform in the ring, but also other things that are just as important and have a bearing on selection suitability, such as attitude, weight management and the amount of effort put in.
“We are confident that the squad we have selected has the attributes required to make the most of the potential they have, and I’m excited to see what this squad can do against the best of what Europe has to offer.
“We’re delighted to have selected high-quality reserves and it was a tough choice between them and the people selected in their weights in first position.”
The first training camp takes place in Sheffield this weekend.
