November 20, 2019 | by Matt Halfpenny
Parkinson’s UK and England Boxing have teamed up to deliver a Parkinson’s awareness coaching course, which was held at West Kingsdown ABC in Kent earlier this month.
Delivered by Charles Delve from Box Positive, it is the first pilot of what is hoped to be rolled out across the country next year.
The course was available to coaches throughout Kent and the Southern Counties, which on this occasion was free of charge.
England Boxing’s Club Support Officer for the Southern Counties, Avoen Perryman, said: “We’d like to extend our thanks to Janine Starling from Parkinson’s UK for her fantastic organisation of the course and Sarah and Michael Bowden from West Kingsdown for hosting.
“We’d also like to thank Charles Delve and Dennis Stinchcome for putting together the course content, with the latter having worked with a large group of members who have Parkinson’s at Broadplains Gym in Bristol for over four years.”
“This will act as a way of raising awareness of Parkinson’s and explain how coaches can use best practice to train people who are living with the condition.”
The next training session which will be held in London on Sunday 15th December between 10am and 4pm at Stonebridge ABC.
